The office Internet went down late afternoon yesterday. Marc and I were using wireless, and we couldn't browse. After the usual restart of the router and modem (which isn't really a modem function-wise), we still couldn't go online, so we used our other connections.
Maya contacted PLDT and they sent someone over today. At first I thought he was a student because, well, he looked like a student: t-shirt, jeans, sneakers, messenger bag.
We called over Kuya Edwin from ICTO to help the PLDT guy Joshua because he needed to access the GUI. But they couldn't. So they did all sorts of stuff on the C-Prompt, then Joshua did some things with the wire, the splitter and all that. He said the splitter was placed wrongly. Then he took up a laptop from somewhere (it didn't look like it would fit his bag), hooked it up to the modem and browsed. It worked.
So I connected to the wireless, browsed a new site and it worked. I signed the ticket, Joshua called PLDT and closed the case.
It's funny. I know all the things that he did (I mean, after a year on DSL tech support, how could I not?) but it was so weird that I don't know what to do when faced with the actual situation ahaha. And I was acting like the customers I hated talking to over the phone. Hmm,the tables have turned (and oddly enough, it's been almost a year since my last call). Hangang powercycle lang pala ako, hehe.
