Years ago, now, when Scapers were trying to get as much exposure as possible for Farscape: The Peacekeeper Wars, I joined the NBC Viewer Panel to give NBC (the new owners of The Sci Fi Channel) feedback about sci fi on tv in general and skiffy specifically ( Read more... )

Probably after the whole Farscape debacle they want to know what the viewers actually think, if only so they can prevent another episode like that.

I doubt they want to end up in the papers painted as idiots again so soon after that.

I'd like to think that, because, you know, skiffy, but since it's NBC... Anyway, it's nice to be asked my opinion on my current favorite show. Almost as good in that regard as being asked to be a Nielsen family.

We're a Nielson Tivo Family! Guess enough people don't watch prime time when it's actually on that they decided they better start tracking what people are recording to watch later...so on our Season Pass it goes something like this...
1. Battlestar Galactica
2. Stargate SG1
3. Stargate Atlantis

and then it gets junked up with silly reality shows! Well, not all.

Extremely cool. I'm glad I wasn't the one on the panel. I would've spent hte whole time yelling about how stupid Ron Moore was trying to ruin my favourite show and give me an ulcer, and when are Helo and Sharon getting their Fat Asian Baby back, and what the fuck is up with most of the characters suddenly acting in bizarre, inexplicable ways in Season 2.5, and whose bright idea was that travesty "Black Market" anyway, and why do they keep having bright ideas and then falling down on the execution of said ideas, when earlier in the show they were able to have both bright ideas and a good finished product?

So, uh, yeah, good thing it wasn't me. They probably would've marked me down as a psychotic and decided not to listen to ANY of my feedback, even the feedback which wasn't laced with angry profanity but could be considered to be vaguely related to constructive criticism.

Oh, and you didn't happen to mention that you were really sick of the show cheating and putting scenes which had never aired into the previouslies? Because that irritated the hell out of me. As did the abuse of the "24 hours earlier" thing.

I did kinda, sorta mention that it was kind of a problem that they kept having to cut important scenes due to time constraints and then have to show them out of context in order to set up other important scenes, so yeah. I did mention that. Hopefully diplomatically. *g*
