Rabid Plot Bunny!
So, I happened across the Navy/Notre Dame football game (and Navy is kicking ND's ASS, TYVM ^_~), and it totally hits me.
Starfleet should have a kick-ass NCAA Division 1 football team! Think about it. There should still be college ball by then. There will probably still be a Navy team (Federation Naval Patrol), and there might even be a MACO team, since the MACOs train at West Point (thank you Memory Alpha!). They could have a heated rivalry with the MACOs and Notre Dame, and be the Starfleet Cadets (a la the Navy Midshipmen).
Kirk and McCoy could have rousing arguments over the games and team loyalties, Sulu could have played his freshman year, and they could all try to explain the significance of the game and team loyalty to Spock, who just doesn't get it (while even *Gaila* gets it!). XD
And I don't even LIKE college ball, outside the Midshipmen! XD (Go NAVY, beat Army!)
