Patagonia is releasing a shoe line of purely recycled and eco-friendly materials!

Also, I have some New Years resolutions:
1. Read fifty books (got the idea from the main LJ page).
2. Drink a gallon of water daily.
3. Be more involved in Birmingham events & give back to the community.
4. Weekly Bikram or Ashtanga.

I think all four of these are attainable. I'll just have to get over my hesitancy to spend money on most anything other than the essentials to purchase those fifty books (I don't like borrowing books from the library because I end up keeping them). However, I'm planning on buying every one of them used.

Another thing that is going to be difficult to figure out is how I'm going to attain a gallon of water/day. I was planning on just buying a big gallon at the grocery store and re-filling it but I like the idea of not drinking tap water. Is tap water so bad? I need to research.
If I decide I don't want to drink tap water, my options are to either A)to consume a ridiculous amount of one gallon water jugs over the course of the year(don't want to do that) or B)buy a water purifier (ugh, I don't want to spend the money).

Resolution number three is something I've always wanted to do. I'm just making it a resolution so that, maybe, I'll actually do it. I want to attend more shows (theatre and music), markets and city events. Also, I need to volunteer more of my time to this city I love so dearly and it's people.
I barely have any time to myself as it is and the thought of taking personal/friend time away is not exciting but I'm hoping that my friends will want to spend quality time doing something more productive than shopping, eating out, etc.

Lastly, I'm going to start participating in a Bikram or Ashtanga class at The Yoga Circle weekly. These classes cost $10 a visit but I think they have student rates or packages I can buy. Again, I'll have to get over spending the money and make this a budgetary need.

I could add more resolutions to this list but a few of them are very personal and, others, I'm afraid I'd jinx if I were to announce.

Overall, y'all, I'm glad it's 2007. I'm excited that the gym is about to open and that I have my own apartment in Forest Park.
