J2 AU rec from this last BigBang.
So, just finished Screw You, We're From Texas by makeit_takeit. NC-17, ~75,000 words.
Basically, the whole Actor Thing didn't happen for the boys. They go to college and have relationships and family stuff and stay in Texas. And find each other. It's painful and awesome and hot and heartbreaking and I really really loved it. it's very real, feels very much like real things that happen to people.
Holy crap. It was long, but I started it this morning at work at 6:30, read through breakfast, cried through breakfast, giggled through my first class, cried through my second, an finished it, smiling, in the middle of my third class at 12:18. It's not long just to be long, either. It takes us through more than a decade of their lives, starting with Jensen trying to make it in show biz and finishing up in his thirties.
And it's awesome. Seriously. Read it. It's got a great cast of characters, though the players we're used to, the CW crew, aren't there, obviously, because the Js never met them. and it's not another college fic, because they go to different Universities at different times. The anticipation of the moment the strings were going to line up and they were going to meet almost killed me, but the whole thing just built and built and snuck up on you with awesome.
Now go read it. And don't worry about not being able to do it in one go. There are calm moments, places where you feel comfortable leaving off for a moment before the next thing happens.
