A/N:
1-A combination between Last Hope and Kazoku Game
2-Sorry for the kind-of-missed-up story, but I couldn’t start earlier and have a limited time.
It was that day, when Hatano met Yoshimoto and this entire story took place. Takumi was as usual working to help the patients in the center inside Teitou University Hospital, until one day, a man in a wide beige coat with a big brown bag, has come to the center. He was holding his arm which was severely bleeding.
“That’s a lot of blood! Something bad happened?” Takumi asked Yoshimoto.
“Just… a stab…” Yoshimoto seemed to be hesitating although he was panting.
“Who stabbed you!?”
“… I-I had a fight.”
“And why did you come here?”
“All the hospitals refused healing me saying that my wound is very large.”
Although Hatano didn’t believe what Yoshimoto had said about his wound, he continued the conversation anyways.
“And you thought this is the last place for you, right?”
“As expected of the general practitioner!” Yoshimoto smirked. “Yes, right.”
“Don’t worry. This place is the last hope for you.” Hatano said cheerfully.
The doctor examined Yoshimoto’s arm.
“Ummm… This wound is not a very big deal, though it scratched the muscular tissues a bit, but you should be fine. A large plaster would work.” Takumi said after he has done the examination.
After Yoshimoto has been treated and left the hospital, with his weird walk that he usually walks, Hatano started to get curious about that man.
“Don’t you think that he’s weird?” Takumi asked his colleagues.
“Yes, we do. But, which part exactly?” One of them answered.
“He’s all weird, especially when he said that all the hospitals refused him.”
“You’re right! I mean, that wound can be easily treated by any doctor.” Another colleague answered.
“I smell something fishy in him. I mean, I think he came directly to this hospital.” Takumi started to doubt Yoshimoto.
Once Hatano went back home, he suddenly found Yoshimoto with his father. He was shocked to see him suddenly like that in his house without him having any single idea of it.
“What are you doing here!?” Hatano asked Kouya with a shocked expression.
“I came to thank you for treating me.” The wounded man said, smirking.
“Ah… I see… It’s no problem.” The doctor said, confused.
“Actually, he came to discuss being your home tutor…” Takumi’s father told him about Yoshimoto’s true intention instead.
“My home tutor!? For what!?” Takumi was shocked.
“Come and have a seat so we can discuss together…” His father replied.
“So, what’s the reason for wanting to become my home tutor? I mean, I’m an intern already…” Hatano started after sitting down, asking Yoshimoto.
“I can be a home tutor for an intern also~.” Yoshimoto replied with a singing tone.
“For what!? Suddenly!? Father! Did you agree to this?” Takumi turned to his father after that.
“I didn’t have a choice… He was so insisted…”
“Here’s the contract.” Yoshimoto put the contract on the table. “Sign, please. Both of you.”
Though Hatano wasn’t convinced at all about a patient who visited the hospital he’s working at, in particular, a mysterious one, who now wants to be his home tutor, he signed the contract. He was wondering why Yoshimoto wants to be his home tutor. Why not someone else than him?
“I am Yoshimoto Kouya. Now a home tutor for Hatano Takumi. Yoroshiku onegaishimasu!” Then Yoshimoto smiled after that.
Hatano had to face every day he spends with his now new home tutor, Yoshimoto Kouya. He didn’t like the fact that he’s an intern and has to have a home tutor. There’s something fishy in this whole situation, Takumi thought so. This must be a way for Yoshimoto to approach him.
At the next morning, the young doctor woke up to find the tutor sitting there right beside his bed.
“Ohayou gozaimasu, Hatano-sensei~.” Yoshimoto said with a tone.
“What the!?” Hatano was shocked to see Yoshimoto that close to him.
“You have work now, sensei~” Yoshimoto pulled the latter out of bed.
“I understand! I’m not a kid!” Takumi pulled his hand off Yoshimoto’s grip.
“I know about your family~” Yoshimoto said in an evil smirk.
“You’re freak…! I have work now, so excuse me.” Hatano went to prepare himself for work.
“ii ne~!’
While Takumi was working hard at the hospital, Yoshimoto was observing him clearly. The doctor hasn’t noticed Yoshimoto until he was going to perform a surgery. He came close to him.
“What are you doing here!? You’re a home tutor! You must not follow me on my work place! Especially that I’m an intern!”
“It’s a home tutor’s duty to watch how his student does, ne~?”
“No it isn’t! I have to perform a surgery now, so go away!”
“You don’t have a real family, do you?” Kouya suddenly asked.
“What the!? This isn’t a time to ask such questions! Speaking of which, why did you try to approach me at the first place!?”
Yoshimoto remained silent and just smirked.
“Ma ii ya! I have a surgery to perform now! Go away!” Hatano pushed Yoshimoto away and went to the surgery room.
While Takumi was performing the surgery, he suddenly spaced out in the middle. He was thinking about Yoshimoto’s statement that he doesn’t have a real family. How the heck did he know that!? All of these thoughts were inside his head, until his colleagues called him, and that made him come back to reality, the serious reality that he’s saving someone’s life.
Days have passed and Takumi has been in this spacing-out state and couldn’t concentrate, even when he’s at home studying, all because of the tutor. Yoshimoto has come to him at first as a patient, now suddenly became his home tutor. At home, Kouya’s stay makes him really confused that his grades went lower than before.
“Ah! I can’t take it anymore now!” Hatano suddenly screamed.
“What’s wrong?” Yoshimoto asked.
“Your stay here as my home tutor gets on my nerves! I can’t focus on anything because of you!”
“Oh, so you blame me for that?” Yoshimoto gazed at him and smirking.
“Yes! You’re the one at fault-“
Hatano couldn’t complete his sentence because Yoshimoto gripped his face and pinned him in the wall with all his might.
“Itai! What are you doing, nuts!?” The doctor said while struggling from the latter’s tight grip.
“Listen, I do know that you don’t have a real family. You haven’t discovered that yet, sensei~” Yoshimoto got closer to him; few millimeters separate him from Takumi, whispering playfully in his ears.
“G-Get off me!” Said the struggling Hatano. “That’s why I can’t focus!”
Yoshimoto threw Takumi on the floor while still gripping his face tightly, then sat on him, gazing strongly at him.
“ITAI! THAT HURTS, YOU CRAZY HOME TUTOR!!!” Hatano screamed out of pain.
“Don’t blame me for being THIS weak and just listen to what others say and pay them all your attention!” Yoshimoto was still holding the other’s face tightly.
“You’re talking about my family! Of course I’d pay all my attention to it! How did you-“
“URUSAI!” Yoshimoto shouted.
Hatano got shocked by the distance between their faces now, and by the sudden change in Yoshimoto’s expressions. His face became gentler and with teary eyes.
“Listen…” Yoshimoto started. “I’m really sad for you, whom your family plays on you this way… You still haven’t realized yet…?” His voice got deep now. “You're the last hope. Save your family… Go and find out why this statement came out of me…”
The doctor got speechless of this sudden change in his home tutor’s personality. He forgot the pain of the grip until Yoshimoto released him and approached his face to peck him on the lips.
“Whoa whoa whoa! Hold on there, home tutor!” Takumi stood up. “What are you doing!?”
“I’m sorry… You’ve got my heart…” Yoshimoto said in a gentle voice, with eyes still teary.
“What’s with this bold home tutor!? Suddenly changed his personality from being sadistic…” Hatano thought.
“I guess that’s enough for tonight. I got to go now.” Yoshimoto left.
The intern was thinking about Yoshimoto all the night. How strange it is that he got his home tutor’s heart. There should not be any relationship between a home tutor and his student.
In the meantime, Kouya went to the school he used to teach at, hitting and throwing the tables and the chairs, hitting the air, throwing anything he was facing, until he sat on the floor with a gloomy face.
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING, YOU STUPID HOME TUTOR!?” Yoshimoto started to scream. “YOU SHOULD NOT GET CLOSER THAN USUAL TO YOUR STUENDS! THAT’S NOT YOUR GOAL!” He stood up and threw a table afterwards.
“I am Yoshimoto Kouya…” He said with a very low voice that it was close to being a whisper. “I am a freak home tutor who brings pain to his students in order to learn about this creepy world and face the evil people…” The tutor finished his statement and went out of the school.
In the meanwhile, Hatano went to search for the truth behind his family. He went to ask each and every one who happened to know his father for days, until he met a previous patient whom his father has operated on. He started his investigation with him then.
“Do you know that your father used your kidney in order to save me?” The patient started.
“… No.” Hatano answered.
“That’s when we were kids, when we were being transferred to the surgery room.”
“That’s why I have that scar!” Takumi thought.
“Ano~…” The patient brought the doctor back to reality.
“Yes?”
“Do you know that your father isn’t your real father?”
“HUH!? Is that true!?”
“It is true… He adopted you…”
“Then… Who’s my real family…? And why did he do such a thing?”
“Well, that’s what I don’t know. You should ask your father himself.”
“Well… Thank you for everything. Sorry that I disturbed you.”
“It’s okay.”
When Hatano came back home to his room, he found Yoshimoto lying on his bed.
“Should I tell him that I’m finding out the truth?” Takumi thought.
“Okaeri~!” Yoshimoto greeted the latter.
“Tadaima…” The doctor replied in a low voice.
“Seems like you started investigation huh~?”
“How did you know!?” Takumi got shocked.
“Don’t you have work tomorrow? Hurry! We should start the lesson!”
Not a long time has passed until Hatano finished his report.
“I don’t want to admit it, but you opened my eyes to find out the truth.” Takumi started while Yoshimoto was correcting the report.
“And I don’t want to admit it, but you really got my heart.”
“Huh!?”
“Hahaha! I’m joking!” Yoshimoto poked the other.
“Tsk.” Hatano clicked his tongue and continued working on another report until he went to sleep.
“ii ne~.” Yoshimoto finally said.
The next day, and after Hatano finished his work, he immediately continued his investigation by asking his father about the true story.
“Father, why didn’t you tell me such thing!?”
“I’m sorry, my son, but I didn’t know how to tell you…”
“You should have told me sooner…”
“I know, and I’m really sorry! I really love you as my own son! Believe me!”
“I want to believe you, dad, but I’m still under the shock…”
“It’s okay, son.” Then he hugged Takumi in a fatherly way.
Then Takumi went upstairs in preparation for the private lesson, but he didn’t find Yoshimoto. He waited and waited for hours now and has done every single thing then, but his home tutor wasn’t back yet. He went outside to find him. In his journey to look for Kouya, he encountered a young girl.
“I’m sorry, can I help you? You seem to be lost.” The girl started.
“Anou… I don’t know if you have an idea, but have you seen a man in a wide beige coat and a big brown bag?”
“… Ah! I saw him entering that school.” The girl said looking to be hesitating.
“Thank you!”
Hatano went to the school the girl told him about. He was kind of scared because it’s past midnight, and the school was very old and closed. Despite that, he entered the building.
Yoshimoto was sitting inside, remembering his painful past as he was usually doing. He suddenly sensed someone coming, and hid immediately.
“Yoshimoto-sensei…?” Hatano continued searching for his home tutor.
Finally, Takumi entered the class and suddenly, he felt a tight grip on his wrist.
“You…!” Hatano screamed.
“Shh~.” Yoshimoto whispered and put his hand on Takumi’s mouth.
“What are you doing here, general practitioner? Instead of getting started for work, you search for me.” Yoshimoto whispered in the doctor’s ear.
“Let… me… go!” Finally, Takumi partially released himself off Yoshimoto’s grip.
“As expected, you came after me even after I told her to instruct you…” Yoshimoto was still holding Hatano.
“How did you-“
Takumi didn’t complete his sentence because he was pinned strongly on the floor by Yoshimoto. He felt a major pain and tried to struggle.
“Ha! You lost the game I settled for you, general practitioner~.” Yoshimoto said, holding the latter’s face really strong.
“What game!? Agh!” Hatano received a tighter grip on his face.
“Hahaha! I was testing you~, and you failed… miserably!”
“Just because I searched for you!? I’m sorry!” The intern said, angrily.
“Haha~! Good boy~.” Then Yoshimoto got closer to Hatano’s face.
“W-What are you doing, freaking home tutor!?” Takumi struggled. “Is this another test!?”
“Correct!” Yoshimoto laughed crazily. “And you are failing miserably because I control you!”
Yoshimoto moved even closer to Hatano’s face, kissed him and put his hand on the skin under his clothes, forcibly, while Takumi struggled to no avail.
“Tsk! Bad student!” Yoshimoto pinned the doctor’s hands and continued his movements.
Not a very long time until Hatano finally could release himself from Yoshimoto’s grip that seemed to last forever. To his luck, it didn’t go worse than that.
“Why are you doing this!? Aren’t you supposed to be my home tutor!?”
“I’m just creating a favorable environment~.”
“This way!? That’s… That’s… painful…”
“That’s why it’s fun~. Tsk! It would be more fun if I went deeper~.”
“B-But… why…?”
“I said it that you got my heart, right?”
Takumi’s face got very red after hearing that for the third time and he turned his face away. Once he looked back to see his home tutor, Yoshimoto was already gone. Hatano tidied up himself and went outside the school. There, he met the girl he had encountered before getting inside the building.
“Excuse me.” Hatano started.
“Yes?” The girl responded.
“That man… You know him, right?”
“Why do you ask?”
“Because he said he instructed you…”
“Ah! Yes yes!” The girl replied after a moment of silence.
“Huh? What relates him to you?”
“He used to be my teacher…”
“But how? How come you have a hideous teacher like him!?”
“He is not hideous. He does this for your sake.”
“Huh!?”
“You may not believe it, but he has a tough past that made him this way you see now…”
“And what does it have to do with me?”
“Because he cannot see you that way with your family…”
“I see…” Hatano seemed to be touched. “Can you tell me about his past?”
“Of course. I promised I won’t hide nor run away anymore.”
The girl started talking the whole truth about Yoshimoto Kouya. She started by mentioning that her name is Mizukami Sara, and Yoshimoto Kouya isn’t the tutor’s real name. It was Tago Yuudai. Tago was a teacher at a junior high school who was helping a student called Sanada Souta, who has been bullied severely by the real Yoshimoto Kouya, and that let him to commit suicide. The student’s suicide made Tago going into a deep sadness that lasted for eight years now. Because of his love for his students, he couldn’t be a school teacher, so he quit and became a home tutor using the name Yoshimoto Kouya to make his students face the evilness.
“That’s why he said I got his heart…” Hatano replied after hearing the story.
“Maybe…”
“But the first time we met, he had an injury on his arm…”
“That’s because he stabbed himself by holding a hand of one of his students…”
“That’s insane!”
“I know… But this is his way of teaching…”
“And why Yoshimoto Kouya? Not his real name…?”
“Tago Yuudai… was killed by himself by using that name…”
“No way…!” Hatano looked sad then.
“Now that I told you the story, excuse me. I have to go.”
“But what will I do next?”
“Save your family… and Tago-sensei…” Sara said the last sentence in a barely-hearable-low voice.
After saving his relationship with his father, Takumi went to look for Yoshimoto after Sara has told him about Sanada’s death anniversary. Later, he could meet the tutor.
“Yo!” Kouya greeted Hatano when arrived.
“I’ve heard it from your student, Mizukami Sara, about your past, Yoshimoto-sensei. Or should I say, Tago-sensei?”
Yoshimoto remained silent.
“You were a good teacher, why did you turn out to be like this!? Your way of teaching is wrong! Please get back again to your real self!”
Yoshimoto is still silent.
“Because of you, I saved my family. Because of you, my grades went lower. Because of you, I got my grades back again. Because of you, you killed Tago Yuudai. Because of you… Because of you…” Takumi took a deep breath. “… I fell in love with you!!!”
Yoshimoto laughed crazily now. “You thought I really loved you? It was just a game! Haha!”
“So that was… just a game…!? You played with my heart!” Hatano started to cry.
“That’s why it was fun!” Yoshimoto said, smirking.
“Damn you, home tutor!” Hatano was shedding tears, frustrated.
“You’re so naïve! Thinking that anyone would tell you ‘I love you’ really has feelings for you…” Yoshimoto wore a serious expression.
“THAT’S ENOUGH!”
After that scream of Takumi, he went against Yoshimoto and hit him, but Yoshimoto dodged. Hatano tried to punch him many, many times, but Yoshimoto was avoiding the attacks every time, until he hit the doctor’s belly, harshly. Because of too much pain, Hatano was panting.
“Listen, general practitioner! I am your home tutor, no more, no less! I did my mission and told you to save your family and to raise your grades. Other than that, it was according to your own will. I’ll go to your father and resign.” Then, Yoshimoto took his leave, letting the suffering Hatano alone.
Days and weeks have passed, and Takumi already started to feel lonely because the tutor wasn’t with him anymore, even during his work, he couldn’t stop thinking of him. One day, Yoshimoto was blaming himself again for the fact that he has the love for his students when he went to that school. Hatano, by chance, saw Yoshimoto’s figure moving out of that school. “Maybe that’s just my imagination?” The doctor thought to himself, and went back home.
