in the navigation strip, the ljuser icons aren't displaying:

1. After much anguish, I still can't change the entry security icons. Same with the .box images (the smiley face, the help icon, the LJ pencil, et cetera). Does the placement of the CSS matter? The only answer I got on my LJ support request about the compiler timing out was: use an external stylesheet and take out whitespace characters. I am made of much fail when it comes to external stylesheets (uploaded the .css file and turned on "use external stylesheet" option, but LJ didn't obey). SOLVED: suggestion of pasting code into the Custom CSS box on the Customize page actually worked! Weird, but not complaining.
2. Bold text isn't boldingSOLVED, somehow making my entry font bigger allowed bold text to appear (?)
3. Is there code to change the skiplinks into images, without moving them to the comment bar?SOLVED, as always, thank you kentucka
