What have I been up to

I fell off the wagon a year ago when I went to play a larp in Poland. I rather got sucked back in after that. Misery is a drug like any other and I have a problem with catharsis. I think it was probably a way of coming to terms with my father's death; controlled grieving. I've played two more games in Poland, one in Denmark, one in Norway ( Read more... )

I hope you can find reason and opportunity to come for a LARP on this side of the pond.
Preferably one that I'm participating in.

As transatlantic trips take a bit of planning, let's make a plan

Dystopia Rising and/or Bicolline?

Dystopia Rising is my jam.
The big network event for the year is Downfall, which is in New Jersey from the 22nd to the 25th of September.
I think that would give you a good sense of the range of play and players - in part because it will have players from every chapter in the network.

If that doesn't work for you, there are events nearly every weekend of the year.

Dystopia Rising isn't the most typical example of N.Am. LARPing, but I think it is a good example of what N.Am. LARPing aspires to be.

Bicolline is very much a Quebec thing, so I don't think it's representative of North American LARP, and I get the impression that it has more in common with French LARPing than North American.

it won't be this year I'm afraid. I already have

and

and

booked and that eats my travel budget up

But next year?

That also works. Downfall is in NJ every year. It was the weekend before Halloween up until this year when they moved it up to the last weekend in September because the weather is that much better.

Dates get announced well in advance.

Also - you should try to convince Ian Sturrock to join you on this adventure.
