Lifting Up Our Elders
It's Sooj, your patron saint of broke creatives, back again.
Rev. Terry Riley and Rev. Amanda Riley, founders of Southern Delta Church of Wicca ATC, have always been as sweet and as good to me as I could handle. Last year, they gave me the highest compliment I never dreamed of by asking me to come and speak about music and magic at their May Day festival--and get paid. I was joyful and humbled at the opportunity.
Terry is a dancing coyote wizard with a gigantic grin who can always be found turning cartwheels, even when he isn't supposed to, and I'm always happy to hear his strong singing voice in ritual. Amanda is a Mama Dragon of the kindest order, and she's always had a hug and a smile and time for me when I've needed them.
They've moved from Memphis back to Arkansas and have fallen on hard times.
I got an email from our mutual friend Nancy this morning on Facebook, outlining yet another bad thing happening to good people who are close to me.
The two of them are awaiting government assistance right now, but in the meantime they're running low on food, Amanda is low on her essential heart medication, and the transmission on their car is dead. Job searches have turned up nil, and now they can't depend on their car to get them to the next town over to work, either.
Like most of us, they don't want to ask for help.
Like most of us, they are sensitive to the fact that most of us are flat broke, as well.
This is why the word only ever gets out when people are at the end of their rope.
What they need is money for food and Amanda's heart meds.
Nickels and dimes are ok.

That is the account we use for our Daughters of the Moon festival and I can deliver the ATM card attached to the account to Mandy.
