Received notice from Yahoo mail late yesterday that two emails I sent on Thursday -- one to my brother, one to a friend -- 'failed.' Guess this explains why my brother hasn't responded to my 'are you coming home for Christmas' message. Fortunately, he called my sister to answer that question.
I'm supremely p*ssed. Seriously. This is TWO separate email providers that can't manage to consistently send email for me. I don't know what to do. I can't very well send every email from two different email addresses, (nothing like a little personalized spam from me, huh?) The worst thing is that since it's so inconsistent, I don't have any way of knowing whether someone's not replied just because they're busy (or didn't have a response to make) or whether they didn't get the mail in the first place. And since it takes three days for it to *tell* me the mail 'failed,' what am I supposed to do?
Someone on one of my writing lists commented that yahoo groups has been bad this week with delivering group mail, and someone else said that her son used to work for an ISP and there was so much extra email at this time of year (due to Christmas shopping, shared photos, email cards) that all ISPs have trouble keeping up with processing it. That makes sense, though it does nothing to reassure me that my emails are likely to actually go out. Is anyone noticing problems?
In the meantime, if I have something really urgent to say to you, you'll probably get two copies of it, from two different mail accounts.
And the final insult? Yahoo treats failure messages from itself as spam. *head desk*
