Snorkeling tour on the Lord SheffieldOriginally uploaded by
Ryner12The island of Sint Maarten/St. Martin is governed half by the Dutch and half by the French, respectively, thus the two different names. We learned that most of the snorkeling tours had been canceled due to the recent tropical storm, but we managed to sign up for one of the few that were still available on the Lord Sheffield Tall Ship.
Some of the day's highlights:
* Sailing on the
Lord Sheffield with a very intimate tour group of just eleven people.
* Snorkeling and diving off the Lord Sheffield. It occurred to me afterward that perhaps pregnant ladies shouldn't be diving 15 feet off the front of ships, but ah well -- we don't seem to be any worse for wear. :D
* Getting caught in a wicked rain/windstorm while sailing back to the port city of Philipsburg.
* Hiring a taxi to take us on a geocaching tour of both Sint Maarten/St. Martin sides of the island, and just barely making it back to the ship on time for departure.
* Tonight's dinner: Creamed wild mushrooms in puff pastry, Kabula Chana and the dessert sampler for me; and [coming later] for Jonas.
