Cat Genie - Rambly Cat Post

We've been slowly transitioning the cats to the cat genie litterbox.

thefanciest talked about it, and after looking at it I thought it would be a good solution for our two cats, one of whom gets particular about the cleanliness of her litterbox

Wow. I wish our cats would use something like that. They're so frickin' picky about their litterboxes. My guess is that something like that would work best with kittens.

We did try to transition our cats to a self-cleaning catbox (I think Douglas bought one at the same time with me?). We tried all the tricks they suggested - leaving their other litterbox nearby but dirty, etc. but they were having nothing to do with it. Ultimately Donner finally pooped in it occasionally but neither of them would pee in it, so we finally just gave up since we had to clean the others anyway.

Yep. We used the laser litterbox for several months, and it was great - until gearing mechanism went awry; rather than scooping the cat litter like it was suppsed to, it was catapulting (no pun intended) the top across the floor. That's a bad sign, right?

The Cat Genie has tempted me for a while. I'm just afraid if I buy it, our kitties would not use it. Plus, I'm not sure I'm ready to have a litter box back in a bathroom instead of in the laundry room. We don't really have a plumping set up to use such a thing in the laundry room.

Yeah, we're fortunate in that we can have ours set up in the downstairs laundry/bathroom, it's the only place we can put it, there isn't a good spot in either of the upstairs bathrooms.
