yoy-yoy bow-wow

Well, well, well...
Here I sit at an ungodly hour of the morning. An hour that actually doesn't feel that strange to me anymore. I've started keeping the most messed up hours. Regularly up past 4am and regularly waking sometime in the PM. It's something that really has to stop. It was, of course, a 'New Years Resolution' that (like all my others) have been failing so far.

I've been feeling sort of bad about myself recently. I'm just so lazy and unproductive. It's almost disgusting. I'm sort of ashamed. I mean, I'll be trying to find full time work next year that will pay me what you'd expect for a university graduate. But, would I really pay myself that sort of money? Something will definitely need to change between now and then.  No more last minute work. No more four day weekends spent in my pyjamas - only actually dressing to go out at night. So, I realize what I've said and what I am soon to say will sound really trite and typical woe-is-me blog material. I just felt I had to get it in writing so that I'll feel bound. Or something. I'm basically making some 'birthday resolutions' to correct my failed new years ones.
I've been having a good time lately tho. Picked up the guitar again. Hardly played since about this time last year. I also fixed my ANCIENT  wah pedal. I took the back off and saw it in all of its ugliness. Beautiful! It sounds sort of rough and grouchy but I like it still. Feast your hungry eyes.

I'm sure everyone has been following the whole Stephen Colbert thing. If you haven't, be sure to fire up youtube.com and catch yourself up. The Generals, of course, lost to the Saginaw Spirit yesterday meaning that March 20th will officially be 'Stephen Colbert Day' in Oshawa. Whether this is a permanent deal or simply for this year, I do not know!

Speaking of Generals (Generals > General Motors Centre > Concerts > Tragically Hip + Constantines), I am seeing the Hip and the Constantines next week. I'm really excited. Loaded the iPod with purely Hip and Cons tunes for the days leading up to the show. I'm sitting really close to the stage but directly to the side. Hopefully they'll be good seats. Nothing can be worse than my U2 seats last year. While it was a really good show, sitting behind the stage and 15 rows from the roof doesn't exactly make for the best concert experience. Anyways, should be a good time. I wonder if they'll allow cameras. Mr. Downie and Mr. Webb seem like cool folks so perhaps they will.

Also, on that front... perhaps you've heard the news. Rage Against the Machine are reuniting to perform at this year's Coachella festival in California. I exhibited immeasurable self control in not buying tickets. I'm sure it'll be a decision that I'll regret until the day I die, but it just seemed like a lot of trouble. Anyways, I'm detracting the coolness of this event. I love Audioslave to death but I never in my wildest dreams imaged Rage playing again.

Finally, and this is probably only of interest to a few of you, but from the Audioslave camp there are some more interesting developments. Both Chris and Tom are set to release solo albums. Tom's album, 'One Man Revolution', is due out April 24th and Chris' untitled album will be out in Feb. or March. Needless to say, this is all very exciting for me.

...and doesn't Tom look mighty spiffy?

Good night and good luck.
