I have a terrible confession to make to you all. There's no easy way to say this. Here goes.
Recently, I've become completely addicted to the show "Law and Order: Special Victims Unit." It's a show that I never, ever thought that I'd be into, but for some reason, it's become more addictive than crack cocaine, and I just can't stop watching it. The show is mostly about Sex Crimes.
My addiction is completely out of control. I can watch it anywhere because I have Netflix streaming on my Samsung Galaxy. I watch it while walking to the store with my work spouse in the mornings to get breakfast (almost running directly into a telephone pole). I watch it at lunch when my work spouse is throwing french fries at me. At night, I tell my boyfriend I'm going to bed, but I'm really not. I'm under the covers, watching it. The perverted show about sex crimes. He climbs in bed. "Oh my god, you're watching that sex crime show again!" At which point I scream back, "don't judge me, you don't know me!"
I really don't understand how they can possibly air this show on Network T.V. This is a true conversation from the show. No, really, I'm not making this up.
FORENSIC DOCTOR: I spent the whole day analyzing the victim's anal cavity to determine how he was sodomized. It appears that we found hairs. But it was not human. It was HORSE HAIRS.
Another thing about this show is that there is ALWAYS a gang rape of some sort, every other episode. It usually goes something like this:
BENSON: Looks like the victim was gang raped here.
FORENSIC DOCTOR: Looks like you're right. There's traces of semen. EVERYWHERE. In his mouth, his face, his ear.
STABLER: Looks like the perps pushed him against the wall, forced him on his knees...look, blood and semen on the walls...
There was one episode that guest starred Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Zach from "Saved by the Bell.") In the episode, his character was found shot in the alley. When the detectives got the hospital, they were all like "Yep. We found semen in him. From many different men."
I think the addictive factor comes from the fact that the show hooks you in each episode within the first ten seconds. Within the first ten seconds, a body is always found. Picture it: the show starts. Two people are having a fight on the street. And then, a woman runs by, on fire. She's dies. Curious minds want to know. Who the hell set her on fire? And at what point in the show will they reveal that she was actually some sort of circus performer who performed sex acts on old men until one of them got sick of her and set her on fire?
I feel like it's wrong for me to be so into this show. It just makes me feel so dirty.
