Bits and Pieces

Spent last night in the kitchen again, cooking the things I didn't have time (or flour) for on Sunday. Sweet Lotus Buns and Ha Gow dumplings.
I definitely seem to be getting the hang of the buns, they rose nicely and I made little mess filling them. The first may have something to do with me being slightly less slack with the kneading.
The sweet lotus paste was tiresome to make, but it sure does smell good when the buns come out of the steamer.
The prawn filling for the dumplings seemed to go on for ever, in the end I shoved the remainder into the freezer because 4 hours in the kitchen is more than enough. The freezer is very, very full now.

For the uk chocoholics on the list, I present Kernow Harvest. I bought the fair trade dark bar while in Cornwall, and it is extremely good. A nice creamy texture.

I think I might possibly have sorted a venue for GWEFC on Monday nights, at least for October. They won't book beyond what the current insurance is good for, and the clubs membership/insurance is due for renewal. My own falls due this month, so is even less use.
