Andrew and I toyed with the idea of hosting an Oscar party, but life's been a little busy so we never got it organized. It was nice having it as a quiet event, and we made it a little more special with some Indian takeaway from Surabhi, I was pleased that Slumdog Millionaire did so well - it was one of my personal favorites from last year. The acceptance speeches for the two Milk wins were very inspiring and hopefully will have some impact in the gay marriage cause. Hugh Jackman was probably a better host for the Tony Awards, but he had a good opening number and kept the pace moving quickly.
So far this year I've only made it four films:
Inkheart - nice but not amazing fantasy story - fun cast.
Were the World Mine - modern gay Shakespeare high school musical - loved it.
Push - better than expected sci-fi mutant story set in Hong Kong - interesting but inconsistent
Coraline - darker than advertised, heard the 3D was good - French and Saunders!
