My life was better before I discovered the existence of auto tune. I sort of enjoy it used in ridiculous amounts - see Cher's "Do You Believe in Love." But it sounds really funny when applied without irony. Like in Glee, where there are apparently several characters who shouldn't be cast in roles that require singing. I really strongly prefer just having someone else dub the singing roles, as was done for Audrey Hepburn in "My Fair Lady." At least then someone is really singing the role.
The episode of Glee was fun, at least parts of it. (The lips intro, for example.) However, all the weird metallic edged autotune really jumped out at me so it was most of what I got out of it. They censored the heck out of "Toucha," but the fact that the lyrics were being censored so as to make Rocky suitable for a high school musical was a major plot point, so I can't complain.
They included the movie theater experience (for about 15 seconds), mentioned that it still *plays* in theaters, and it's been good for our numbers, I think - the theaters I perform at sold out more quickly than last year. I do wish Barry had gotten more screen time. He had what, four lines?
I don't watch a lot of TV shows; I sit through Law and Order when it's on, and sort of half watch Dr. Who if I'm wandering through the room when W has it on. Seeing this, I'm glad they did it but I don't think I'll add this to my rotation.
