There are some cute patterns in this year's Jan/Feb Knit Picks catalog, like some beautiful knitted foxes and a play set consisting of a knitted mat featuring a railroad and a highway, along with knitted cars, train engine and sailboat. The argyle sweater vests are not bad, and much better than, say,
these "camoknit" pants, but the model photographs are cracking me up.
Suggested use: wear this sweater vest to the chicken coop with your cute little skirt and tights! (Tip to little farm girls: do your morning chores in overalls *before* you get dressed for school. It works better, trust me.)
I would think twice about sending my adorable, skinny, glasses-wearing, teacher's pet eight-year-old boy to school in this sweater vest. It is cute and I would let him wear it if he picked it out himself, but as he was walking to the bus swinging his Doctor Who lunchbox with the meticulously packed food inside, as his mother I would worry a little about bullies, the same way I said I would if he wore things like
this.
However, I? Totally want this sweater. The pattern is called "Counting Crows"!

Other knitting-related things... some kind person let me know that my
post about using my Doctor Who scarf as an emergency halter/lead rope (see icon) is nominated in Ravelry's "Bobby Awards" in the
Best MacGuyverism category. Hee!
While browsing the awards, I also found the
Squirrel Hat (also
on Flickr;
donutsweeper! perhaps Murray could be bribed with headwear!), the gorgeous
crocheted Discworld (also viewable
on Flickr) and the
Creeping Heart. Neat. (ETA, oh, darn, you have to be logged in to see anything on Ravelry. If you have an account, though, it's worth doing it to look at the interesting projects in some of the awards categories.)
