Let's Go to the EX!

Sep 09, 2015 21:45

It's taken me close to two weeks, but I'm finally posting photos from my annual pilgrimage to the EX (Canadian National Exhibition). As usual, there are pictures of cats and sand sculptures. However, this year there are also pictures from The Game is Afoot: Consulting Sherlock Holmes Exhibit and a Virtue and Moir ice skating show (Bon Voyage! Aerial Acrobatic & Ice Skating Show). Well...I only managed to get three not-so-awful photos from the ice skating show, but I think I got some pretty good coverage of the Sherlock Holmes exhibit.

Mom was kindly agree to see the Sherlock Holmes exhibit first, though she probably knew I'd get really antsy if we didn't go there first. Still, I really wanted to get there before the EX got crowded. Happily, I had easy access to everything and I think it shows...

Awesome artwork (Mr. Holmes by Mariya Olshevska) that was used to promote the exhibit

made his very first appearance) and a first edition of The Hound of the Baskervilles

I was just going to take a picture of the cutouts alone, but Mom
insisted that we pose with Sherlock and John. We did start a trend,
though, and a bunch of other people had their pictures taken as well.

This picture is only slightly less embarrassing

There was some fabulous artwork, most of which was Sherlock-centric:

Of course, a visit to the EX wouldn't be complete without the cat show!

There were other animals in the Enercare Centre -- some sheet moss bears:

These images aren't great (it's hard to take decent pictures of figure
skaters in motion), but here are some shots of Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir:

Last (but never least) are the sand sculptures:
