The Christmas party was nice. A bit long, but nice. It was good to see some old friends. Especially this gal named Brynn. Brynn and I have known each other for about five years now, but we're always sort of on the cusp of becoming good friends. When she saw me tonight she said, "I've been thinking about you! We NEED to get together to talk and hang out." I agreed that we totally should, so we are hoping after Christmas to get together. I totally think God wants us to be friends, because he keeps putting her in my path. Case in point Jack's teacher that we adore is her dad! We had a whole mutual admiration love fest about her dad tonight. He showed up at the end to help clean up and we had a really nice chat. He's just such a sweetheart of a guy. And I love that he thinks Jack hung the moon. He just adores her to bits. He told me tonight that Jack asked if she can start reading 6th grade books for credit now. He said, "I'm just warning you, because she is just flying through books." She's in third grade and I'm sure by the time she's in high school she'll be in advanced placement courses. I love that she has a teacher now who totally feeds her need for learning. He is teaching her algebra now. The kind of algebra I had in high school and college and she's loving it. And doing so well in it.

Things with my sister in law went okay. I just tried to not say anything negative and enjoy the evening. She was okay for the most part and well behaved, so I can't complain too much. Though my brother is really pissing me off. My niece was at my parents house with my dad while we were at the party. My brother was supposed to go over there and just help take care of his daughter while we were at the party. Apparently he showed up and was trying to leave with her. My dad refused to give him custody. He said my brother was so out of it he wasn't making any sense. Every time my dad would tell him he could not take his daughter with him he would say, "I don't have a carseat." My dad kept telling him that it didn't matter, because he was not leaving with her, that he could just stay at my parents and spend time with her. Then he wanted something else and my dad refused, so he left. But it sounds like he was just so out of it, it was probably a good thing.

My niece is now at the age where she understands more. She told me, "Daddy was here and he was mad. He was hitting this. He was mad. And making lots of noise." I wish my brother could understand that every thing he does affects his daughter. But he's so out of it on drugs and mentally ill that he just doesn't get it. I told B that before to long I bet he's going to have to go back to the mental hospital. Even my mom who is normally so calm and nice with him lost it on the phone with him. She said he was just repeating everything over and over not making any sense. I think she's just lost any patience she had at this point.

My baby brother was at my parents house when I got there with a girl who is a friend of his. He said that she is the future mother of his children and he was trying to get her to go to Las Vegas to get married. I looked at her and told her seriously you do not want to marry into our family that everyone is crazy, seriously batshit clinically crazy. My mom agreed and my brother said, "Yeah that is true." I hate to be so flip about it, but she seemed like a nice person and I seriously don't want her marrying my brother who is a mess. But I've warned all the other women who married my other two brothers and they never listened. By the time we got back they were gone, so I'm not sure what was up with them. The one thing I did really like about her though was that she wasn't all dressed up with make up on. My brother was saying how beautiful she was and she was just wearing jeans and a t-shirt. I'm glad at least if he's going to end up with someone she seemed down to earth and very normal. He could use a good dose of normal in his life.
