note : this is what it looks like to be in denial that Sasha is leaving the Caps. Part two coming either today or tomorrow and will either feature Holtby and Neuvy or ... someone else.
01 | Comfort
Sasha murmurs Alex’s name into his ear softly, hands still working at his shoulders to work out the kinks, and it's when Alex doesn’t respond even after Sasha’s tongue runs hot along his neck that Sasha realizes that Alex has fallen fast asleep.
02 | Kiss
The first time Alex tells Sasha he loves him, he uses his mouth not with words, but with his lips pressing ever so gently on Sasha’s and then they’re connected everywhere and Sasha just knows.
03 | Soft
Sasha’s fingers trail along the patch of hair leading down Alex’s belly to his belt with an endearing smile because Alex, unsurprisingly, let himself go over the summer and he’s got the pudge to prove it.
04 | Pain
For the ten minutes after the blow, Alex can’t breathe except to gasp burning air into his lungs before retching it back out in painful heaves over the sink as Sasha rubs his back, telling him it was a bad idea to pick a fight with Geno after a losing game but he fought admirably regardless (and it isn’t particularly comforting, but Alex appreciates the effort).
05 | Potatoes
Sasha’s mother is the only being on the planet with the nerve to slap Alex on the wrist for attempting to dip a finger into the borscht stewing on the stove, except for maybe his own mother.
06 | Rain
The harsh patter of raindrops against the windows is only an echo of the ground shaking thunder that makes the glass shake in its frame and with every passing strike, Sasha burrows further into Alex’s chest, grumbling about how they wouldn’t have to worry about this if they had just taken that vacation to Turkey.
07 | Chocolate
On Alex’s birthday, Sasha tries his best to whip up a cake (chocolate, of course) but he realizes about halfway in that there’s a reason he received the calling to be a hockey player and not a chef.
08 | Happiness
In the weeks after Nicky breaks up with him, Sasha thinks he’ll never be happy again (let alone get out of bed)- that is, until Alex comes pounding on his door with a case of beer and a smile, absolutely determined to pull Sasha out of his slump.
09 | Telephone
One day, Alex will understand the intense frustration and despair of being forwarded to voicemail at two in the morning but until then, Sasha can do little more than sit on the couch and wait for him to come home smelling of liquor and sex.
10 | Ears
Sasha has to yell to get Alex’s attention through his new headphones and even then, he keeps them hanging around his neck for dinner- still pounding out the same obnoxious techno beats he’s been forced to endure all afternoon.
11 | Name
Nothing makes Alex come harder than hearing Sasha gasping his name, unable to catch his breath because Alex is so deep inside that he can’t think of anything else, his fingers are clawing at Alex’s skin and they aren’t kissing, but Alex lets his tongue slide into Sasha’s mouth regardless, just to get a taste of the desperate passion he’s created.
12 | Sensual
Watching Alex chew gum is something Sasha thinks of as a guilty pleasure (even though everyone else, with the exception of Holtby, finds it annoying as hell)- he likes watching Alex’s tongue dart out and the way his lips slide along the elastic candy hen he blows a bubble because it never ceases to remind him of the way Alex’s mouth works on his skin.
13 | Death
When Sasha’s fish dies, he’s livid because Alex should have known better than to pour vodka into the fishbowl, even if he did have the best intentions at heart.
14 | Sex
On the nights they don’t sleep together, it’s usually because Alex has done something stupid to deserve getting banished to the couch, but usually Sasha reneges in favor of slow, smoldering sex on the living room floor.
15 | Touch
Sasha loves it when Alex goes down on him- he enjoys the heat of Alex’s mouth and tongue on his most sensitive parts, likes that when he’s reached his limit, he’s already prepared for when Alex fucks into him in earnest.
16 | Weakness
Alex doesn’t like to admit how much stock he’s put into his relationship with Sasha, but it becomes painfully obvious for everyone even remotely involved when Sasha is on the receiving end of a dirty hit in the middle of a game and at that moment he can’t even remember his own name for the red painted rage he unleashes on the culprit.
17 | Tears
On the rare occasion that Alex catches Sasha on an off day, he never knows how to react to Sasha’s red, puffy eyes because even though he knows he’s been crying, he can’t find the words to let him know everything’s going to be fine.
18 | Speed
When Nicky snorts a second line of coke off of Mike’s kitchen counter and starts getting pushy, Alex pulls out his phone and texts Sasha to come fast- and to bring Erskine along because he’s the only one with the balls to break up the party and set him back in line.
19 | Wind
Alex can’t hear anything over the rushing wind as he speeds down the highway, glad to be back home for the summer and even happier to have Sasha’s fingers prying at his belt.
20 | Freedom
Sasha thought he would be happier, that breaking it off would give him some sense of ease and freedom after being oppressed for so long, but all he can see is the empty place where Alex should be sitting and for the first time in over a year, his house is completely silent.
21 | Life
They don’t talk about the future very often, but when they do, there’s no question as to whether or not they’ll be on the same team- rather who is picking up the pricier electricity bill as opposed to the water.
22 | Jealousy
Alex likes to think he’s got a level head when it comes to things like jealousy, but he can understand why Sasha insists he’s got a problem when finds himself growling at Nicky for sitting too close to him on the couch, even if it wasn’t on purpose.
23 | Hands
The fact that Sasha can be a handsy drunk goes from being sexy to absolutely terrifying in mere seconds when he reaches over and unzips Alex’s pants in the middle of team dinner and they’re both lucky that Nicky chooses that exact moment to spill his glass all over the table, avoiding an awkward moment for themselves.
24 | Taste
Sasha does his best to pretend he loves Alex’s cooking, but it can get difficult when everything he produces has the same flat taste of salt and maple syrup.
25 | Devotion
They don’t always see eye to eye on a lot of things, but Sasha takes pride in the fact that he can look past Alex’s stubborn nature and love him regardless, even when he’s the one that ends up paying for all of Alex’s mistakes.
