Was afraid the hype may have killed it ... but...
Just watched the first episode of Downton Abbey ... it has fiiiiinally premiered on Aussie tv - at long last!!!
And boy is it good ... damn good. Better than damn good if truth be told.
If you haven't had the pleasure of watching it yet - DO IT. NOW! I'm sure you won't be disappointed if you like costume drama series with a bit of pomp and backstabbing goodness!
It's like Upstairs Downstairs but on a grander scale... the estate is massive and the staff is huge! Yet there's still scandal to boot, and this was only the first episode!
I've already got a favourite character too - you were right girls, Mr. Bates is just charming! - and nothing like his Robert from Lark Rise To Candleford; I was hoping he wouldn't be too similar in this, so I'm extremely glad of that. Dame Maggie Smith also plays a wonderful part, she's just perfect.
I hear they've already begun filming on a second season - bring it on!
