I haven't posted here in a while but I wanted to wish everyone a belated Happy Holidays and Happy New Year. I hope you are all happy and healthy and still madly in love with your chosen fandoms.
These past few weeks have been very busy for me. I discovered that my dog Sam has cancer and have been going back and forth to various doctors for tests and scans. He's dropped weight to around 90 pounds, but since he isn't capable of getting in and out of the car on his own that is still a hefty load to lift and carry around. I took a week off from work for the holidays and spent most of it exhausted.
The good news is, he is on a pain medication treatment now that has brought him back to a semblance of his old self. Yesterday we played with his ball together briefly, and he is eating again. He seems bright eyed and happy. I'm planning to cherish every moment we still have with him. He is a fantastic dog and has been a member of our family for nearly ten years now.
In happier news, there are a lot of things that have been going well. My son finally has a job (yay!!!), and it's one he really seems to like. I got a new ceramic tile floor installed in my kitchen/dining area, which I absolutely love. I had a burst of energy about a month ago and painted my downstairs bathroom. I bought myself a new laptop. It's pretty amazing; I splurged and bought myself a higher end one that has a huge amount of graphics and video power. It feels strange having a computer that doesn't freeze or lag when I play games or watch videos, and that I can actually hear without headphones, because my old one was so slow and outdated and that was what I had come to think of as normal. Plus the keyboard lights up and can be programmed to all kinds of different colors, which is pretty cool. ^_^
I haven't been writing recently, but I think that is because my brain has been tied up with stress and other RL things. I'm hoping that will calm down soon as I really want to get the finishing touches on my new book finished so it can be released. I received the finished cover for it recently from my cover artist and am completely blown away by it. I can't wait to share it with all of you!!! So excited.
I also bought myself a Fitbit wristband a few days ago. So far I am really loving it. I dropped out of my martial arts class a while ago while I was struggling with a bout of depression and have been letting myself get terribly out of shape ever since. I figure that this will help me get focused on fitness again. It's pretty cool because in addition to step counting and the usual exercise-related stuff, it also tracks my sleep patterns and food/water intake. My favorite part is the little vibration alarm that reminds me to get up and active at least once every hour. Since I have a job where I sit at a computer a large part of the time, that is turning out to be a wonderful treat.
I hope you're all having a wonderful start to the new year. :)
