Few topics im going to talk about:

a) My trip to Detroit
b) First day of school

a) So, summer was almost over and my sister and I (mostly my sister) complained about how we didn’t ANYTHING during the summer. She did have a point. I didn’t think too much of it, because I had days where I was busy with work. She didn’t have anything to keep her busy besides TV and Jade (her best friend /neighbor). So I did feel sorry for her. Mom had been begging dad to take her or send her to Detroit. Her friend’s daughter lives there and she just had a baby, Mashallah, what a cutie. So spur of the moment, dad decides that we should go. I felt it was a bit odd because this is all towards the end of summer. But anyways, the trip was 4 hrs and 45 minutes long. So not too bad.

We get there and its very nice. I liked it there in terms of the place, location. It was very peaceful. Infact, it was too peaceful. I was so bored out of my mind. My dad, mom and her friend were busy discussing people I didn’t know about, the difference between the two countries in terms of price, agriculture, finance, job market…well, basically everything. Aysha (my sister) took over the TV and didn’t let me watch anything besides spongebob, fairy odd parents and other cartoons. The baby was 10 days old…so he did nothing besides sleep, eat, sleep, poop and sleep some more. I was scared to hold him because he was just so little. And little babies scare me…I have a fear that I might drop him. So anyways, I was sooo bored. I wanted to do something…ANYTHING…but there was nothing to do. It would have been nice if the guy offered me to use his computer to get rid of my boredom, but he didn’t. I was dumb enough to not bring along any books and they didn’t have any good books.
The next day, the guy took us out to see the GM company and the Ford company. YAY*im being sarcastic*. I wish I were into cars….but im not. I pretended to be amused by all the cars we saw. Towards the end of that, he takes us to this arab area and he got middle eastern pastries. OH MY GOSH…I haven’t had that since I left Qatar…so that’s 10 years ago. They were SO good…but i couldn’t have too much of it because they were too sweet. But we got to bring them home. What I was really craving for was a shawarma. Since we were at an Arab location, there was bound to be at least 20 shawarma stores. But I didn’t have the guts to say it out loud. The next morning, I found myself reading IKEA catalogues. We left around 1 and came home a little after 5. so that was my trip to Detroit.

b) I wouldn’t say that I was nervous about today. But I guess I was unconsciously because I woke up at 2 last night and didn’t fall asleep till 4 or 5. I was to meet a friend who was supposed to give me a tour of the school.  So I guess knowing that her being there didn’t make me nervous really. I catch my bus…get off at south common mall. And who do I see sitting on the bench? Gitika :). I wave at her from afar and when I get there, I realize that she is sitting with my trainer, Alicia. What a coinkidink! Anyways, Alycia was more nervous than me. But im sure she’ll get over it by the end of the week. I get to school and see that my friend hasn’t arrived yet. Gitika was sweet enough to wait with me (thanks gitika). While I was waiting with her, I met people from Clarkson: mariyam and besma. My friend finally arrived and she showed me where my classes were. What else? My classes seem okay so far. I seemed to have forgotten my password so I am now using my friends ID to take up time before my next class starts…which is in 2 hours. My bum is numb. Anyways, im here till 9. 9! Can you believe it?! I don’t think ill get home before 10. I think that’s enough for the school topic.

c) what else? I realize that this update is boring…but I cant seem to be cheered up. I feel bored, tired and alone. I want to sleep…but I cant. I feel like downloading msn…but im scared to. I don’t think id its allowed. I think ill end it here and work on something else. Perhaps my story.
