Evening, everyone.  Woo, I'm already for sleep, it gets so dark so early nowadays.  And I'm pretty sure my seasonal affective disorder (otherwise known as winter blues/excuse for feeling bummed out) is somewhat taking over.  I get very easily crushed these days, but I usually perk up about something, like my shiny new Christmas lights, or the fact that I can now make pie crust.

Dude.

So, this was my epic weekend of vacation, something I rarely take for reasons I will explain later.  Friday was the usual swing dancing plan and dashing out of work before someone tried to stop me with even more work.  I'm getting a little burdened.  I hope it's just the end-of-year crush.  Anyway, dancing was fun, hanging out afterwards was even more so.  The blistering cold at the end of the evening was not so great, but hey, I'll take it.  I suppose, if I must.

Saturday I lounged around until Lee came over for the pie/essay lesson.  We made three fine looking pies as a team, and she gave me the easiest method of pie crust making I've ever seen.  Take that, Ina Garten!  I'll tell you how easy it is!  Anyway, the cherry pie was quite perfect looking, and the pumpkin pie was dubbed awesome by my family.  The apple pie would eventually be categorized as okay, but hey, for the first swing of the bat, I think I did fine.

Sunday was a continuation of lounging about and domesticity.  I made gluten-free corn muffins, and managed to keep my mother from enabling me and my non-cooking skills.  My parents really kind of bad about encouraging me to move out, they keep doing nice things for me like that, but I doubt they want me still living there when I'm thirty.  And as I told my sister-in-law with my two brothers in earshot, I kind of want a sex life someday.  To which my older brother remarked that he needed a drink.  :D

After baking up a storm, I picked up a soda and trekked out to Bellevue for my first exposure to Ben and Eric's Chili Throwdown.  It's quite the epic affair.  I think there was forty-some people in attendance, fifteen types of chili, and more silliness than you can shake a stick at.  Fifteen chilis was a lot, and thirteen of them came with beans, which frankly with one of my fourteen allergies (the one to legumes), I was disinclined to eat a ton of chili.  Plus it fills you up quite quickly.  And of course the beanless was my favorite, but I tried at least six.  And then sat down to rest for at least an hour.  Woo, it's like a marathon.  As Anitra observed, we kind of needed the Roman vomitorium down the hall.  I'm sure Troy and Merinda will get right on that.

It was a nice time though.  I hope they invite me back next year.

I got home at midnight and was sacked by my bed.  I'm sure coach will bench me.

Monday was my glorious day of not working!  Touchbrowns!  I didn't think once about logging into work, checking my email, any of that.  Ann my manager gets on me for not letting go.  Of course Dave my other manager wants me to be everywhere at once, but whatever.  I'll do both.  I slept in, took a shower, went shopping, bought YET MORE UNDERWEAR, and important things like secret santa gifts and gift wrap.  I also decided to decorate my room and bought some of those shiny LED Christmas lights.  They are quite shiny indeed.  I definitely won't need a night light ever again.

It was good to recharge.  I tend to spaz out about being off work, but it was nice not to think about it.  I went back today to a couple of disasters.  I'm rather pissed at my manager and my backup for my major account.  Manager claims he didn't get any emails while I was gone, but there were clearly four of them, and they had his email on them, so I'm giving that a BS call.  Also I told my backup one specific thing, I even sent him an example in an email of the cars that were NOT TO BE TOUCHED.  And I'm going through the lists wondering where they went...sure enough he did exactly what I told him not to.  Argh.  More training is obviously required, and hopefully I won't snap.  It's just very annoying, because I made a pretty big point of it, and trusted him to listen to me, but once again no one actually bothers to listen to me.  Asserting myself is kind of a losing effort here.

On the upshot, got out on time, only three days left in the week, and my new dress came.  I know exactly how to describe my appearance in it: Cherry Bomb.

Now off to battle with my novel.
