Holy cow that was an awesome five days.  Dude.

So, I thought Friday would never end.  Seriously, nine o'clock my customer decides he needs all this stuff he didn't need before, and I want to be a good account manager and get it all done before I head out to STL and forget that I even have a job.  For a while there it was touch and go, and I wasn't too worried because my flight wasn't for a while after work and my dad was hanging out in his old department, but still, it was Friday, I wanted to be gone.  But I managed it, customer issues, being on call, and everything.  I even scored the Monday after Cowtown for vacation, somehow it cleared up on the schedule.  I was seriously dreading trying to get into work after that weekend.  Phew.

So I hit the airport and sat for a really long time, but I wound up making friends with Tall Tim (he really was giant) and Casey (Casie?  Kasey?  KC?  We didn't really get into spellings).  But we flew together to St. Louis, Tim who was from St. Louis interviewing for a job in Omaha, Casey born and bred in Omaha headed to STL for her boyfriend's relative's birthday, and me the STL transplant headed back to the motherland.  Totally awesome.  I wish I could find them on facebook.  I know it's supposed to be all such terrible security and so forth, but we're all fairly intelligent, so they might be well safe-guarded.  But it was so wonderful to walk out of the gate with nice people and find my best friend and her lovely sister waiting for me!

It was raining and humid in St. Louis.  I didn't care.  It felt like summer.  I was also ravenous and wanted to change into something comfy, so we headed back to Heather's house, I changed, and she convened the Princesses.  And we decided to head out to Llewellyn's pub for food and adult beverages.

Of course we get there, and I walk in the door with Heather, Terry, and Hana behind me while Jessie finds parking and the doorman looks at me and says there's a $5 cover charge.  I stared at him blankly, because I couldn't really hear him, and the last time I was there, the pub didn't have a cover charge, and frankly at that point, I didn't want live music or whatever, I wanted greasy, unhealthy, fried FOOD.  Preferably the kind that goes with cider.  I love Irish pubs, they actually carry cider.  Anyway, the girls were equally mystified by this cover charge, and eventually the guy gave up and told us to remember next time.  This proved beneficial because the band was horrid.  Dear god, soundcheck lasted about thirty minutes, and then we spent an hour yelling across the table at each other to be heard over the noise.  Boo.

However, there was cider, and an excellent greasy cheeseburger with bacon and fries, and my three best friends (plus Jessie, who is awesome.  Middle children have to stick together), and it was lovely.  And then I ran into a guy I went to grade school with, which was kind of funny.  "I bet you can't guess who I am!"  "You're Logan, dude, you just friended me on facebook."

We finally left so we could hear each other again and hung out at Heather's house for a little while, planned out next steps, and then I sacked out because I'd been up for a really long time and drank a huge draft cider.  It was a lovely first day.

Day Two recount forthcoming...I promise.
