It is, actually. I'm a very round 24 today. I have to say that I rather like that number.
Anyway, if you remembered my birthday in any shape or form, contacted me or not, I say thank you. It's always nice to be thought of, as long as they're pleasant thoughts. Many facebook messages to reply to, a few emails, and there's going to be at least one phone call I know. Other than that, a fairly calm birthday. Tomorrow is when stuff can be loopy. So far, as presents go, I'd say the best ones are my handpainted noodle bowl from
tumbling0after , and my series of A Bit of Fry and Laurie from my mom! They're both pretty sweet. In fact, I'm so enthused about it, I'm tempted to go out and by myself an interesting noodle cookbook, and experiment while watching Prof. Stephen and Huge Laurie. AND I can wear my new Jane Austen Society apron. I am so with it. The best card has to be from Grandma, 'cause Grandma's awesome like that. The best internet message belongs to
prairiehen and her daughter. I was delightfully pleased and flattered. I'm sure there's more to come, at least, that's what people tell me, but for now, I'm well satisfied. Probably going to buy some cds on Amazon later, and possibly some dvds, but I haven't decided.
Would you like to hear the rest of my fantastic b-day plans? Of course you would! Tonight, I'm slacking off, eating chicken and dumplings with my parents, because today is a chicken and dumplings day. The weather outside, yuck. But then I will listen to Wait, Wait and scope out Amazon merchandise. Later there will be Burn Notice with my favorite blacklisted Miami spy, and then I can stay up as late as I bloody want to because I'm not going to work tomorrow. They can just deal, which, I'm sure they will. Tomorrow I will sleep in, do some laundry because I should, and kick around until the evening when I will be meeting up with my bookclub girlsquad, and head out to Dundee for dinner and a three-hour pub crawl. I've never been on a pub crawl, much less one on an Omaha winter night, but what the heck. I promise to be careful and pace myself, though I had a funny conversation about it with Hana the other night:
Me: "Yeah, I think I might try either tequila or a Guinness or Swithwick's or something."
Hana: "You know, for someone who doesn't like alcohol all that much, you picked three of the worst things to start with."
Me: "*laughs* Good point."
I really just like Guinness because of their original ad campaign: "Guinness: It Makes You Drunk." Simple and to the point. Who couldn't love that?
I probably won't be out too late, since we all work and I'm the youngest of the group so I should be home at midnight, and asleep not long after I imagine. And as Brian at work said, I'll have the whole weekend to sleep it off.
Speaking of work, things are going to be weird next week. I've met Rob's replacement, and he's a nice guy, but he knows about as much as I did when I started, so things are going to be a little messy for a few weeks I imagine. I hope to god my evil fleet that went away a few weeks ago stays away because I can't do that one without a manager's support and Rob's the only one who gets it. Otherwise, things were pretty bang on today. Everything was done by the end of the day. I was struggling with the stupid rebills, but Brian was nice to me and didn't make me do anything too strenuous. I am a little bummed, though, since tomorrow is Rob's last day and I won't be in, and he wasn't in today, so we won't actually get to say goodbye. I liked him, he was a good boss to have. Sadness...Though really he'll only be a few floors away, and what with the new guy not knowing very much, maybe Rob'll be back to do stuff. I don't know, we'll see.
Oh, and the Girl Scout cookies are here! I desire Thin Mints in large quantities. And I think I should go send some email. I'll update you on the evening as I go, if need be. Should Ben Barnes show up in a amethyst red Aston Martin DB9 with my name on the registration, I'll be sure to tell you all.
Oooh, and there's homemade guacamole downstairs...yoink!
