The radio is mocking me again. Okay, it's not really mocking me, I'm just doing my English Major duty of reading too much into a coincidence, but seriously, on the ride home, "Don't Stand So Close to Me", "Photograph", "Human Touch", AND "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?". The radio insists on having its opinion, I presume. That last song is definitely my theme song sometimes. Oh, to be followed around by the Clash...
Work was a little weird today. I got done with regular work just a little after lunch, nothing major going on, and then all the managers went to a meeting. All of them, usually they leave at least one in control of us, or I would assume the contractors would run wild. We did not, but I did run out of stuff to do at about one, leaving me at least two hours of puttering around at my desk. I must've checked my email 37 times, wished I'd sent that new section to myself so I could work on it, diverted every car I could get my hands on, and felt guilty for not having anything to do. Sort of. I was not so guilty that I ran through my work from the morning again, because that just annoys me. I sit there thinking, "I already saw all of this," and there's about a one in ten chance of something changing, but it really is just me wasting time. So finally I just did all of Brian's maintenance and tried to look busy. The managers returned about 2:45, in time for them all to check their email and everything they missed while in the meeting, and I could continue my puttering. Meh.
Um, let's see, oh yeah! Book club was awesome last night. Everybody agrees, David Sedaris is insane, but darn funny. We've agreed to read "Holidays On Ice" for next December's meeting. I do want to hear the stories of David the Macy's Christmas Elf. It sounds both hilarious and disturbing. Also, while sitting around at work today, I heard back from my rep who told me that I have at least a day's worth of vacation on account, so I can take off next Friday if they don't need me at work, which they probably won't, and the Friday Plot can go on as planned! So far...more on that later.
And it's Wednesday. I'm hoping there's a Duran Duran reference in tonight's episode of Life, just as there as one in Monday's House. "New Moon on Monday" was definitely stuck in my head for the rest of the night. And, no, 13, they're not a hair band. Jesus, she grew up in the 80's. Though that's not to say that Simon Le Bon doesn't have fabulous hair, because he does. Heehee...
