Abortion and what it means to me...

To be completely honest, I'm for keeping abortions legal. Honestly, I might not agree with it; but, I do not have the right to dictate to others what they do with their bodies and/or the bodies of their potential offspring. And to be completely honest, its the last portion of that statement that is what abortion is all about to me. Father's ( Read more... )

Equal rights for men and women? Heh, not in my lifetime.

Sadly, what I think has happened over the years in an effort to supposedly even the playing field for men and women is that women have "benefits" (not the right word, but I can't think of the right one) in some aspects of life and men have "benefits" in other aspects. It all comes down to everyone is going to get screwed eventually. :-)

The evil part of me says the abortion issue could be fixed if we started requiring people who want to have babies to be licensed by the government first. Just think, no more stupid people babies!

True that.

Although, my definition of stupid people is very broad. Lack of common sense falls into stupid in my book.

You can have a high IQ, but no common sense. If you couldn't pass the common sense part of the licensing exam, you wouldn't be able to have kids, even though your were technically a genuis.

And people who think it is acceptable to allow children to be holy terrors in public wouldn't be licensed either.

Since we're engaging in this hypothetical utopia of yours, how would we measure and exam 'common sense', which by it's own definition seems to suggest it is common? Would there be punitive measures for people who couldn't keep their kids from screaming? Do we start with the poor, since they contribute less to society? Seems like abortions would speed up the process.
