I hear that. No such thing as being too into slash..I don't think...
I know what you mean though. This one time some was talking to me about Heroes het pairings and I was like wtf you don't slash? How can you not? and they kind of got scared. Strange.
eh... I think it gets to be too much when you become intolerant of het (in general, not a specific pairing).
I am regularly apprehensive of sharing my slash addiction for fear of that strangeness. There's a definite disconnect between fandom and non-fandom-oriented-fans, I think, especially with slash- not everyone's comfortable with it (I repeatedly converse with people who don't understand it in the HP fandom and I just kinda have to bite my tongue...). Slash is almost completely an online thing for me.... which is kinda odd, now that I think about it...
Haha. I'm always about the slash. Sort of. I don't think there's a fandom I have that I don't have at least one slash pairing in. maybe there is. I don't know. I just think it's weird when things that are so freaking obvious about it get ignored. Or maybe I'm just a creep who looks for subtext.
Well online in the way that I only talk about fandom slash online- it doesn't really form any part of my interaction with friends/general people on a regular basis, unless I'm online.
...I don't think I've ever had a fandom without a slash pairing...
uh, yeah, it does. *considers doing something violent to the essays* But my last day of class is thursday and then I have a week before I actually have any finals. Lots of stuff to do in that week, but not so much that I won't be able to catch up on some reading and do some writing and play with graphics. ^____________^
...sorry you feel like you're waiting for me though.... aren't you out of school somewhere around now?
Georgian colleges are out ..::looks at watch:: last friday! also i tweeked "button down lover" and posted it for you i'm hoping you get to read it soon..
Yes! I saw that. I'll probably get to it this evening (looking forward to it ^^). There's a lot of other stuff on peterandclaude that I need to catch up on too.....
I spent two and a half hours today helping this guy edit his short-story-combined-with-term-paper. 7 pages. It's a really good thing I enjoy that job....
I talk to a Heroes het fan all the time, and it makes me giggle. I'm starting to become more tolerant of it and ship a little bit of it here and there, but my brain is entirely too gay-oriented to ever het really into it. My two Heroes het fics are v strange--one is completely noncon and not the pretty kind, and the other one is Paire.. and you've read that one. So yeah, you know the strange lol. I get nervous saying I write/read fanfiction at all. It's like coming out all over again O.o I get all choked up and am like NO! no... I mean, yeah I read that right. And people are like "Oh" and generally don't really react badly, but I just have this irrational fear that people will find it ridiculous. Which is stupid because it is ridiculous and I find it so XD
( ... )
The heroes cast should be (attractive-adjective-here) to anyone, even if they only get to the level of aesthetic appreciation xD.
Have you ever seen the divide between reading and writing fic? You say you read fic and people are like 'huh, that's cool.' and you say your write it and they're like 'oh my god how obsessed are you?! insane!' (except that they really just say 'huh' or 'oh' with a different inflection...). I actually find myself explaining the terminology rather often. This is fanfiction and that is fandom and this other thing over here, that's canon. Questions?
Yeah, it's only fun to write fic when it's something that canon doesn't show us- which really just means (for us shippy-folk) UST FTW! and unresolved back-stories. those are good too. (I have an urge to write Bennet/Sandra... wonder how that'll turn out...)
Yeahh I had a girl the other day like have a laughing attack when she walked into the library and saw me typing up fanfiction. I was like "um" but she just like cracked up, and then proceeded to request House crackfic. I can't wait to leave high school...
I almost feel dorkier reading it honestly XD It's like when I write at least I have the excuse of improving my writing (which is what I told that girl). You don't have to set up or create new characters, you just run with pre-established things. Which can be challenging and elementary in equal measure... but yes, I am the queen of evasionary tactics.
Welcome to the tinted side of fandom then- not really dark but lightly dyed. Possibly pink. Or red-that-looks-like-pink. ^^ Have you ever noticed that slash readers/writers rarely want things to be easy? We add so many conflicts.... and happy endings are in no way mandatory.....
