Tuesday of last week was an unusually warm day. It got so warm in the house that we wanted to turn the AC on but the thought of turning the AC on in January was ridiculous. Thankfully cooler weather and rain was forecasted for Thursday but even though it did rain early on Wednesday night and then again on Thursday night it didn't cool down at all. Thursday and Friday just ended up being muggy. Made for a very sweaty day at work.
Saturday i was scheduled to work from 5pm to 10pm so was i browsing online for jobs and enjoying some tv with Michelle. Grabbed the mail just after noon and sat down only to find the cats chasing down a bug in the house. They love that. Turns out the bug was a bee so i grabbed it with a paper towel after the cats had already beaten it up pretty good. Roughly fifteen minutes later there was another bee in the house?! Cats were on to it right away so again it was easy to get rid of but where the hell were they coming from? i started investigating and i thought i heard bees in our exterior wall but it turned out it was just another bee flying at the bottom of a wall sconce. Michelle ran outside and saw a swarm collecting under the eave of our neighbor's place adjacent to ours. We asked neighbors if they knew what to do while i ran to the community pool to write down the HOA telephone numbers for help. When we got back inside Michelle called the HOA while i taped up the vents. We didn't have any other bees in the house after that. The cats made sure of that as they were on major patrol. Luckily the HOA got back to us and told us they were going to send out a beekeeper to take care of it. Before i left for work at 4:30pm the bees were gone. The beekeeper told Michelle he was just going to smoke them out since they hadn't created a nest just yet.
2009 is turning out to be a very weird year indeed and it's only January!
