Excuse me, but I'd like to propose
that the moments we feel most alive aren't actually measured
in weddings and rainbows,
or in joy for love you have, but measured in pain for love you don't...
In sneezes and coughs,
Burnt hands when the water's too hot,
Fingers in car doors and windblown cheeks,
Fast beating hearts and getting cold feet...
In best friends moving apart,
Uncles passing away.
Boys almost men fighting, accepting early death,
and not-quite love's breaking hearts.
All of this just so we realize aloud and cry:
"I need more time and chances I can't afford to buy."
