Also on the topic of Madoka: The Madoka Question
As in: "would I become a magical girl?"
To which my knee-jerk reaction is FUCK NO.
Less knee-jerky: perhaps, if I could word my wish in a very specific way that would ensure the safety, happiness, freedom, and continued well-being of my family and myself, without damning us to being Alive Forever. Or if I could word my wish to as to rid humankind of some terrible evil - if I could make Earth into Utopia, complete with safeguards so no-one could make it a dictatorship, I would, too. (yes, even though it'd be a blatant trangression of the very thing I would want to avoid.) These two kinds of wishes are basically the only things I can see myself selling my future for, but they're very big wishes, and I'm not sure they'd be allowed. I'm not sure I'd trust my wording enough to prevent disastrous loopholes. (the first wish, for instance: I added "freedom" because what if Kyubey interpreted "safety and happiness" as brainwashing-happy-fun-tiemz?)
Or if Kyubey tried to tempt me with silly wishes, I might fall for Naruto to finish in an apotheosis of textual Naruto/Sasuke/Sakura goodness, because I still have too many feelings about fictional characters. I wouldn't believe he could fix DC - not forever, given the nature of comics. I don't know if I'd turn it down if he offered to make me the next JKR. And yeah, okay, being a ~heroine with a ~fulfilling life and ~adventures sounds cool (I'd be the one designing her outfit, too), so I could use my wish to make it come true and ensure nothing awful happened to me, but then we're back to Wish #1.
My stance hasn't changed since I started watching Ep 1, because I am extremely distrustful of magical contracts and because it doesn't look like you can actually resign as a magical girl.
ETA: oh, and there would be lots of questions asked before I agreed. See the extreme distrust, which this anime isn't helping.
