Thanks for the welcome back, but really this post is just a little note to say I'm alive. I'm going to disappear into the abyss again. :P
But yeah, with Hr/R at a standstill, even though there's nothing holding them back from a relationship, and H/G broken up, plus all these pro-H/Hr pics surfacing from GoF... Harmony's having a fun week. :)
Still, I'm a pessimist when it comes to Rowling. After seeing the way she gushed on and on about Ginny Sue and butchered her strongest characters for the sake of her plot, I'm fairly certain Rowling's aiming for OBHWF. The wrongness of OBHWF just becomes more obvious when you watch the movies, so it's very satisfying to see all these H/Hr pictures coming out. I know the filmmakers will try to insert Hr/R, but that just fails completely in the face of H/Hr. :D
What annoys me MOST is that Harry/Ginny could have been great. Ginny could see Harry for Harry, they could connect over Voldemort, Harry could be conflicted with the love he feels for Ginny and the different love he feels for Hermione and Ron... Isntead we get MONSTERS.
Hermione/Ron only make sense if Ron or Hermione were the main character. Becasue they've got a whole lot of issues that needs to be worked out if they're ever goint to be happy.
kaskat said, and I agree, that JKR stuck with her plan with Hermione/Ron and Harry/Ginny rather then going for the emitonal truth of Hermione/Harry. Hermione might have been meant as a sidekick, but she wandered and became Hary's EQUAL.
Indeed, the wrongness of OBHWF is readily apparent in the HP movieverse, which makes it obvious that the strongest, deepest male/female relationship is between Harry and Hermione. And our ship doesn't need any stinkin' manips to get that across :))
I really love that we don't need any stinkin' manips, as you so eloquently put it. H/Hr just glows naturally on the screen, with all the canon moments that OBHWFers always claimed were "platonic" moments (e.g. the H/Hr hugs, the touching, the arm-grabbing). I was laughing my butt off at the Ginny Sue head pasted over Hermione's face in the infamous PoA image, and the one with Ron's head pasted over Harry's in the QWC pic.
And they say we're delusional... Payback is beautiful. :P
I'm glad JKR didn't crush everyone's hopes completely with that interview. My emotional investment in H/Hr has dwindled considerably because of HBP, so while I'm not hoping it happens, I'd be ecstatic for everyone else who's keeping the faith.
Really, though, if you base your hopes on the books and ignore the interview, H/Hr makes the most sense even post-HBP. Hr/R was as stagnant and abusive as ever, and H/G came from nowhere and ended with nothing. The fact that they're the "canon" ships doesn't mean they're emotionally satisfying relationships, which casts suspicion on Rowling's shipping choices.
It all boils down to how good an author you think Rowling is, and what aspects you think she values in her series.
As for H/G in the end... eh. I don't think there's any way Rowling could write H/G to be good, considering the first five books of nothing and the WTF-inducing sixth book.
But that's why I'm the pessimist and you're the optimist. :D
And we have pictures of moive!Hermione and Harry clearly wanting to snog. Goot times.
Welcome back!

Of course, we're all just being delusional. ;)
