I had this awesome response written out, and my computer crashed and I lost it. And that was 4 days ago. Lol. Here goes again, maybe.

I tend to agree with you in some respects, but not in others. The tragedy of 9-11 is something I don't think our generation will ever forget, particularly those of our age group who were rather impressionable when it happened. I did not personally lose anyone, but I remember being very rocked by the whole thing. I see no harm in remembering those who died in memorial. I do see a problem with overdraumatizing the anniversary, and I do see a problem with the widespread prejudice and biggotry that many people continue towards Muslims and Midle Easterners in general.

I can't even begin to imagine how you must feel on 9-11. After all, white Christians weren't the only ones to lose their lives. The larger tragedy is the prejudice directed towards the hundreds of thousands (millions?) of Muslims in our country. I completely agree that we should live life to the fullest on all days, not just when we happen to remember 9-11 or other traumatic events.

*hugs*

Oh computers, haha.

I'm not condoning remember the anniversary, we're a sentimental species, we like holding on to memories and sentimentalizing days. I just...on 9/11, someone linked me to this website with absolutely gaudy, sparkly, 9/11 merchandise, and stuff like that just ticks me off, so that's part of where this ramble came from.
