On Anniversaries...

Sep 11, 2010 14:37

Look, September 11, 2001 was tragic.  Everyone can agree on that one.

But all the dramatization surrounding every single one year anniversary...I'm sorry, but it's getting excessive.

So the earth has orbited the sun 9 times since it happened.  BIG DEAL.
Same with birthdays.

It's just years.  It's just an arbitrary unit of time that we as human society have made up.  Why dedicate one day a year to being solemn and in deep thought?

How about maybe, just maybe, taking every day of our lives, and living each of them to the fullest, just with the knowledge that you've lived to see the next moment?  How about we take the memories we have of the lives lost on 9/11, in war, to disease, to starvation, to natural disasters, to anything, and how about we live to the fullest in their names, every single day that we are lucky to be alive?

My two cents.  Take as you will.
I am not at all minimizing the grief felt by anyone who's ever lost a loved one.  I'm just saying...better ways to honor their lives than sitting around posting Facebook statuses about it.

Now go out there and decrease worldsuck!
