Title: Cadence
Summary: A call-and-response marching song.
Notes: The ‘inside joke’ employed here is a personal one relating to the concept, and is not obvious in the piece itself.
Scribe’s note: Medic platoons in the last ten years of the war, before Her Graceful Majesty Queen Ruhana (all spirits praise her) ended it with the Emerald Agreement, typically traveled in units of twenty - two squads of ten each - and were highly regimented, much like the infantry. They employed songs called callbacks to keep time and rhythm during long marches.
Recorded in the Fifteenth Year of Our King Madhav the Wild-Hearted (all spirits praise him).
I know you haven’t heard our song
Twenty voices loud and strong
Listen up, across the land
We’re medics from Arambhi sand!
Sound off!
Sea to sea!
Sound off!
King and country!
Twenty medics in formation
Marchin’ in a foreign nation!
Twenty medics from Arambh
Shaper than a razor clam!
Sound off!
Sea to sea!
Sound off!
King and country!
Twenty medics, now behold!
Twenty medics, worth more gold
Than all the soldiers of Fallstar,
Heal so well that you won’t scar
Sound off!
Sea to sea!
Sound off!
King and country!
Bring you back from nearly dead
Stand our ground when others’ve fled!
We’re the best at what we do,
Better at what you do too!
Sound off!
Sea to sea!
Sound off!
King and country!
Sound off!
Sea to sea!
Sound off!
King and country!
