Title: In the Sun
Summary: In the desert that is All, a story of what was lost.
Notes: Meh, I’m supposed to be thinking Natural Forces but this FotD was screaming “creation myth!” to me for some reason. Except it’s more a destruction myth. Oops.

Listen, young ones. Learn from what has come before.

Long ago, before the dawn of the world, Naida and Fajra were born to the One Truth, the All-Order, the Eternal Law. Sisters are supposed to protect each other, yes, but the gods have always eschewed the rules and thus Naida and Fajra were born at, and of, war. Torn from the One Truth, it is whispered among those who would know such things that each girl had made her divine mother collateral damage in an all-out, desperate battle to kill her twin.

Neither was older. Neither was younger. Neither would surrender.

Neither would be the new World-Queen until the other was dead.

It is whispered among those who would know such things that the creations, unsuspecting, were obliterated within the week. Imagine, two goddesses, more powerful than all before them and driven, in all things, by a single overwhelming drive to destroy her no matter the cost - who would survive? Who would want to?

In the end of all things, Naida drowned Fajra with one last wave of tears, and succumbed to her own burns shortly after. The One Truth destroyed by her own progeny, the other gods having taken sides and obliterated themselves, the myriad creations of the Everything swept away in floods and burned to less-than-ash in divine fire, only a single, small spirit was left. A minor spirit of a dandelion, which takes no sides because none will take his. While the rocks and the trees and the winds had gleefully battled to decide the most powerful among them (and then there were none) the dandelion’s seeds, whipped in the gales even as the larger bully-spirits trampled the original, floated on.

Life will find a way, even when peace will not.

When the fires burnt out and the waters evaporated, the seeds came to rest in the wasteland that was once paradise. The One Truth, the Eternal Law, shattered into so many pieces by her daughters, never came back together again.

It is whispered among those who would know such things that the many children of the poor, long-dead dandelion spirit still watch, silent, in the face of the sun at its height. Because as none took his side, his hundred-strong descendants, in his name, will take none either.

Listen, young ones. The sun will take no sides. It does not mean to rob your crops and pierce your eyes. It treats all equally in this endless land. Do not curse the sun, for the sun will give, and take, and do nothing, as it has always done, for as long as the Wastes have been Wastes.

Life will find a way, even when peace will not.
