New commenting idea and poll
Falootin and I were talking about commenting and how it is sometimes difficult to articulate thoughts about a piece, but once you've read you'd still like to let the author know you appreciated their work. And we were thinking it might be useful to develop a system where it would be acceptable to leave little stamps or macros that said basically "I read it/I liked it/I just don't have anything constructive to say at the moment." We could make some default ones and users could make their own variations. We could even incorporate these into games and challenges - giving them out as prizes instead of prompts.
We're thinking this could either be a great idea, taking off some of the pressure to comment and letting people know they are read more than they think they are, or it could be a disaster where people rely on it and comment even less than they do now. So we'd like to know what you all think...
