“Holy… that building is huge,” Addison marveled, tilting his head back to try to spy the top of the cylindrical building.
“Not from the inside,” Bliss commented as she ran a hand along the rough brick beside the iron door. Addison winced. He had forgotten that this was nothing more than a place to hold slaves who either hadn’t been sold yet or worked within the city limits and whose owners didn’t have space for them. “When I was little I couldn’t figure out what we were keeping out. I didn’t realize until later that they were keeping us in.”
