Summary: Milos suffers at the hands of his homework and Alex lends a hand. Sort of.
Milos slapped the desk. “Fuck this!”
“What’s wrong?”
“It’s this- This goddamn maths.” He glared down at the printed sheet, pen poised to punch a hole in it.
“Isn’t that homework?” Alex drawled, pushing himself up from his seat and sauntering towards the alfa. “The thing you do at home?”
“So? I can’t do it. That won’t change no matter where I am.”
He rested his palms on Milos’s desk and squinted at the sheet. “Let me look. Well, that doesn’t help, for a start.”
He tried to see whatever it was Alex saw, and failed totally. “What doesn’t?”
“That’s completely wrong. You can’t divide that by that and- What the hell are they teaching you anyway?” He jerked the pen from his hand and started jotting down numbers. “If you try it like this it should be clearer.”
Milos sighed. “Do that again?”
“No.” He pushed the sheet back and smirked at him. “You saw me do it. Now work it out yourself.”
“Oh, thanks.”
Alex waved a hand at him as he headed out the office door. “My pleasure.”
Milos glowered at his retreating back, then back to the sheet, and tried to backtrack through the sum. Maybe he should have asked to be killed, or submitted to experimentation rather than employment. It turned out HEL could offer him something even worse than Alex as a partner. A fate worse than death itself: adult education courses.
