Summary: I started Pistachio a YEAR ago this February, and it's finally done! YAAAY! Though I am ending it on a bittersweet note; it's the night before Atlas dies and the last night of Firebird's childhood.
Atlas casual glance towards the stairs turned to a glare in a flash. "What are you wearing?"
Firebird didn't even bother rolling her eyes. There was no point fighting it; it was just a fact of life that if she wore a dress then her father would complain about it. "The appropriate response is 'you look beautiful, perfect daughter of mine'."
Atlas snorted. "Perfect? Do I have another daughter I'm not aware of?"
That did illicit an eye roll. Atlas ignored it and asked, "Where are you going?"
"Out with a friend."
"What kind of friend?"
"The kind of friend that's none of your business," she warned him.
Atlas knew he should get angry about her going out with a boy, but the way she stood in front of him, one hand on her hip and that warning expression on her face disarmed him. She looked just like Paloma sometimes. "You do look beautiful, baby girl."
"Thank you, Daddy." Firebird kissed his cheek then made a face. "You're getting scruffy."
Atlas ran a hand through his hair that was a good half-inch longer than he liked it. "I know. I'm getting a cut and shave tomorrow."
"Alright. Goodnight, Daddy."
"Bye, baby. Be smart." Atlas pointed a finger at Paul as he passed. "You kill anyone that looks at her in that dress."
