Title: Doubts
Summary: Ryan wonders if the success of the first album was just a fluke.
"I don't want this to be a one hit wonder kind of thing," Ryan whispered from his place, curled up against Alex's side. They had been watching movies in silence up to that point.
"It won't be," Alex said, eyes not wavering from the screen.
"How do you know that?" Ryan asked, his worries were not gone. He shifted his position enough that he could look up at Alex without straining his neck.
"We're too good to just be one hit wonders. We have fans. Hell, we had more then one hit on the album," Alex said, looking down at Ryan and kissing the top of his head.
"You sound very sure of that," Ryan said, leaning into the touch.
"And you don't have faith in the band," Alex retorted.
"It's not that Alex. I know we're good, damn good," Ryan replied. "I'm just not the most optimistic person in the world. You should know that by now."
"I know. Our next album is going to be great. I can feel it."
"If your head gets any bigger, you won't be able to get through doors anymore," Ryan teased.
"Ha ha, very funny. Just trust me," Alex said.
"I don't want to go back to where I was before," Ryan says in a voice barely above a whisper. Ryan doesn't regret his past but that doesn't mean he wants to return to a life on the street, without enough money to pay rent and not enough skills to get a job. Not when he had a taste of the good life.
"That won't happen Ryan," Alex said fiercely, putting a hand under Ryan's chin and made him look up. "I won't let that happen. Even if the next album flops I won't let anything happen to you. I promise"
"Ok," Ryan replied, leaning up to kiss him, to bind him to the promise he made.
