Man, usually I find such arduous and unstoppable pursuing kind of annoying but Lucas is such a kicked puppy and Mara... has a few issues that are clouding her emotions. Nonetheless, in a TV series these two would be a great couple for constant shouts of "Get on with it!" at the screen. XD

If this was about the Misfits, Mara would be a supporting character at best and Lucas would almost never show up, so it wouldn't get annoying ;)

I see it as a process of emotional growth on both parts. They start out as strangers and Lucas is scared of her and then they have this crazy "will they or won't they?" where Mara can basically do whatever the heck she wants and Lucas will be waiting for her.

One of these times he needs to just already have a girl when she shows up...except that might be dangerous

I wrote this today. Mara's behavior is a little crazy and scares me a bit but hey, now you know what happens!

Poor Lucas. These two are kind of an odd pair but the way they're drawn to each other makes it work somehow.

I hate the cliché of the nice girl who loves the bad boy and puts up with all the shit he does thinking that he will come to realize that he loves her, too. Mara and Lucas are sort of an inversion of it, only that I like to think that it's a little healthier on Lucas because Mara makes him grow up by rejecting him.
