She can never return home; she remembers being tested, feels the fire hidden beneath her skin, and her unworthiness doesn't erode. Chicago is where she belongs.
Natalie's family loves the familiarity of the country. Natalie loves the city because she's sure nobody knows her name, and that's worth more than she can express.
