He's totally going to sell the pills. Oh, Cygnelius. To learn that your dad doesn't value you at all and then learn how MUCH he doesn't value you in so short a time... well, it totally explains why he's such a grouchy bastard. Poor baby. I definitely must buy him a pony.

Cyg was a grouchy bastard from the crib. His father just compounded his issues. Um, a lot.

And yes, you go ahead and buy him a pony - he will totally name it Bill.

It would certainly be a twist, I guess. :o

I had enough trouble just with watching the scene where Zooey Deschanel drowns the leukemic kitten in Winter Passing; I don't think I could actually write a young animal killing.

(It's been ages and ages since I read LotR, but - didn't Bill live? At the very end? Or is that just wishful thinking reshaping my memory?

*must unpack the rest of her books, reread LotR*)
