nick's grandmother died today... his mom's mom.
i don't know what else to say about that, and don't want to put his family's business on the internet, so i'm going to just put that out there and move on for now.
tomorrow's my first day of TA orientation. i think i remember spanish. it looks like i'll be teaching 201. this is kind of good, as i'm not sure how to teach 101 to people over the age of 7 without being completely insulting. i'm not sure how i ended up with 201 unless the selection was random... it's been a while since anyone in the department heard me speak spanish, and the one who heard me most wasn't affiliated with the teaching assistants. i don't think they know about my work over the summer, either. i won't question it, though... i think i'm pretty happy getting to start with the intermediate level.
i really want to be good at this. i'm so sick of seeing modern language education completely ruined by those unaware of correct, successful methods, or those uninterested in upholding them. i don't want to accidentally add to the mess by screwing up silly things.
i have to go to bed. i hope things are going well for everyone. i'll try to keep in touch better.
