Dear lord is it ever. I’m actually working on it now but since I need a break from studying…

Random? You mean like a pop quiz? I don't think I could handle that. Then again it would make you study throughout the week instead of just before the exam which is helpful. Last quarter we would have these oral exams, where the professor would tell you exactly what section the quiz was on but it would be divided into 4 parts (we have 4 students in Grk 2) so you wouldn't know which section you'd get. Then on the day of the exam you'd draw the number of your section, then read the Greek aloud, then sight read (except that you had hopefully studied the passage the day before so you'd have the syntax and vocab memorized), and then he'd ask syntax questions about the passage.

Actually, I’m a Classical Civilizations major since I want to focus more on the archaeology. I’m intending on a Greek or Latin minor depending on whether I want to focus on Greece or Rome, as of right now I’m undecided on which civilization I prefer (I think it will be Greek but I don’t know, it’s a tough decision). I might also do an Anthropology minor as well, but that is to be determined. As for how many years, I think it is 3 years for a minor. For a major it’s all 4 years of undergraduate studies. My advisor, or I should say advisors, keep giving me mixed advice about what I need if I want to get into grad school for Classical Archaeology. *sigh*

Yeah! That would be really fun! I can’t promise I’ll always be available to do the discussion but I would like too. What is the name of the novel? Just e-mail me the information. ;)

We know when the tests are. But they can be from any Greek text ever, and there's no way to prepare for it other than to go over *all* the syntax and vocabulary studied in class. Oral exam sounds creepy to me because I need to think about the text and analyze it in my own head, and the process of talking/answering questions would keep me from doing that in a way that works for me.

Also? Focus on Greece. Greeks kick ass. Although, as far as civilization goes, Rome might actually end up being more interesting than Greece. But Greek mythology is clearly better than Roman. ;)

Wow, your Greek vocab must be awesome! Mine is terrible. >_< I always need to know what section the exam/quiz is on so I can study, study, study.

By the way, I’m not sure if I’ve asked this before but what level of Greek are you in? Also, did you learn it Athenazde (I can’t transliterate words worth anything) style or maybe Greek Before Christmas (Hayes)?

HAHA! Yeah, the mythology is the greatest. It’s what first got me interested in the Classics. I’m so divided because I adore the Greek language and mythology, but Roman history is amazing. The emperors make me giggle with glee or cringe in disgust at their exploits. You don’t always find that in Greece besides mythology (then again Alexander was quite a character wasn’t he?).Although, I will say that Greek vases interest me like no tomorrow…then again Roman house plans are really cool too. God I’m such a geek.
