Just found this blog linking A Song of Ice and Fire to Norse mythology (mainly the the myth of Ragnarok). I've just spent an hour or so reading through it. I know next to nothing about Norse mythology (I've mostly read Greek/Roman mythology thanks to the amazing Robert Graves), so I got really immersed in this.
