We explored the rest of the hotel before our tour guide called us for the first tour destination. We went to some historical places in the area.
There was a palace, an ancestral house and a shrine, all with a great view. It was majestic. We also learned a lot on the history of Japan and their former leaders as well as their heroes. I took a lot of pictures. After that, we went to a mall.
“You might need kimonos for the next destination.” Our tour guide told us before we went to explore on our own.
“Where do you think we’ll be going next? It’s almost night time.” Misaki wondered out loud.
“Maybe it’s not for today. It might be for tomorrow.” Byul suggested.
“I think so too. They just told us to be ready since we’re here anyway.” Chie added. It turns out, we are going out tonight. After dinner, we were told to change into our Yukata, a traditional japanese female clothing, and assemble at the lobby by seven o’clock.
“ano, does anyone here know how to put on a yukata?” I asked.
“I think this goes that way and that goes this way.” Misaki demonstrated, though it looked more like she just wrapped and tied herself up with the cloth.
“It’s the Misaki condition!” Chie, Byul and I sang together. We always do this whenever Misaki does something funny.
“Seriously, it looked so much easier watching it on t.v.” Byul sighed.
“Maybe we should ask Keiko, she did say that whenever we need help, we are to call for her and she does wear a Kimono.” Chie suggested.
“Chie, you’re a genius!” Byul exclaimed. We all laughed.
We asked Keiko after and she happily agreed to help us. She even helped us do our hair. “You all look beautiful!” Keiko said. After a lot of effort, we finally finished dressing up and I must admit, it does fit us well.
I was wearing a blue yukata with gold and white flower patterns. Byul was wearing a light green one with pink flower patterns. Chie was wearing a white one with red flower patterns and Misaki was wearing a purple one with pink patterns. Keiko took a picture of us.
When we arrived in the lobby, there were already guests waiting. Some of them were also wearing traditional japanese clothing. More guests arrived one after another.
There was one, rather pretty, woman in a blue yukata. She has short hair and has a nice slender figure. With her is the little girl with curly hair whom I saw earlier. The elderly couple, from before, also looked sweet in their matching japanese clothes.
When everyone has arrived, we went to a so-called Tanabata Festival. It was wonderful. There were stalls selling variety of souvenirs and yummy foods everywhere. There were also some where in you can play a game and win a price just like when a carnival arrives in our town back home. We mostly ate and played though we’re not very good at it.
After the stalls, we went to the hilltop. There, stands a big tree where one can write any wish on a wooden amulet. There were also other people there making a wish mostly couples, one of them was the newly-weds who came with us.
“I wanna try it. Come on, let’s try it!” Misaki said enthusiastically then she suddenly said that she didn’t feel well and had to go to the bathroom but told us to carry on after assuring us that she’ll be fine so the rest of us wrote and hanged our wishes in the tree. I took a picture of us hanging the amulets one at a time. I also took a picture of the tree with everyone there making their wish, I hope they don’t mind.^^
After that, we heard a booming sound. We turned in time to see the sky being lit up by colorful fireworks! I hastily took out my camera to take a picture but when I took the first one, a person passed by and obstructed the view.
It was the woman in blue yukata along with the little girl. It seems as though they also came to get a better view.
When the view cleared, I took a few more pictures of the fireworks. Then we realized that Misaki wasn’t back yet so we went to look for her.
It was definitely a night to remember but it was also very tiring. We fell asleep right away the moment we laid down in our room.
